Evelyn Bøje Thorbjørn Andersen. was born in Solbjerg in 1911, where his father was a craftsman. Already as a boy, he was heavily involved in drawing and painting. For him, there was no doubt that he wanted to be a painter. The parents insisted that he first learn painting. After finishing school, he became an apprentice painter in Fjerritslev. Thorbjørn became a valuable helper in church work and the restoration of various churches' old frescoes. As early as 1928, he exhibited -- aged 17 -- for the first time at the amateur exhibition at the Aalborg Art Museum. After completing his apprenticeship, he took up his artistic education in earnest, and over the years Thorbjørn has had several separate exhibitions, e.g. in Aalborg, Randers and Aarhus.
In 1949, Thorbjørn stayed in Greenland, where he made many long journeys from Godthaab to settlements, fjords and coves on the west coast of Greenland. Also the following year, he spent several months in Greenland in Ivigtut, Færingehavn and Narsarssuak. These 2 years were a great experience for the painter, which brought his art a step forward and has provided inspiration for many works with Greenlandic motifs. During a stay in Copenhagen in the summer of 1963, then Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson bought a painting by Thorbjørn
